Bruce
Moir
Supervising Producer
Bruce has worked in the Australian
film and television industries for over 35 years, and
has been associated with a large number of documentaries,
feature films and TV mini series. While Managing Director
of Film
Australia in the ‘90s, the company produced
more than 150 hours of documentary and over 60 hours
of children’s drama. He has worked in different
parts of the world, and been involved in co-productions
with production with international partners in China,
Japan, USA, UK, Germany and elsewhere. He is currently
on the Board of Australia’s key industry development
agency, the
Australian Film Commission.
Bruce was Series Supervising Producer
(editorial) for two Discovery Channel documentary series,
Southern
Exposure and Asia – Past
Forward, produced by emerging film-makers. Bruce’s
association with TVE Asia Pacific goes back to 2001,
when he served as Executive Production Consultant to
Truth Talking productions made by local film-makers
in six countries.

Krishan
Jayatunge
Graphics Consultant
Based wherever his laptop takes him,
Krishan has done design work internationally for clients
in Canada, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka and UK, and constantly
strives to find appropriate communication solutions
for development organisations. Educated in Toronto and
Paris, his work has included websites for TVE
Asia Pacific, the International
Forum for Rural Transport and Development and the
Professional
Association of Interns and Residents in Ontario.
In 1999 he researched and developed a site on Papua
New Guinean Sepik folklore and design for IDRC.
He is responsible for the coding on this entire site
as well as the design on all the outputs for this project.
He runs his own design company Kroworks.
On a personal note, he sees Children
of Tsunami as not only an opportunity to share the hardships
faced by the survivors, but more importantly a chance
to celebrate their victories and learn from their strength.

Manori
Wijesekera
Regional Production Manager
Manori was a journalist and writer
for several years, working for an English language daily,
a business magazine and travel publications. She also
freelanced for Women’s Feature Service (WFS).
She later worked as Editor of a Coastal Resource Management
Project funded by USAID, before joining TVE Asia Pacific
in 1998. She is currently the Regional Programme Officer
and head of Distribution at TVEAP, promoting partnerships
with dozens of broadcast, civil society and educational
organisations across the Asia Pacific region.
In 2001-2003, Manori production managed
Truth
Talking, which supported local film makers
in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Fiji, India, Laos and Nepal
to produce international documentaries that looked at
how local communities are responding to natural or man-made
crises that threaten their lives, livelihoods and lifestyles.

Nalaka
Gunawardene
Executive Producer
Originator of Children of Tsunami
concept, Nalaka is Chairman of the Board and Regional
Director of TVE
Asia Pacific which manages this regional communications
project. He has been associated with media, journalism
and development communication for nearly 20 years, the
last dozen at Asia Pacific level.
Trained as a science writer and journalist,
Nalaka worked for Sri Lanka’s English language
press and hosted programmes on both radio and television.
He won three national awards in five years for excellence
in science journalism. Switching to a career in non-profit
organisations, he worked as a project manager with the
Asia
Foundation and as communications specialist with
IUCN
– the World Conservation Union. He was a communications
consultant working with UN agencies, non-profit groups
and media training institutes, before founding and heading
TVE Asia Pacific in 1996. Nalaka is also a founder director
of Panos
South Asia.
